Julie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate who works with individuals, couples,
and families, focusing on adults and teens. She has clinical experience working with individuals
and couples experiencing a variety of challenges including life transitions, divorce, anxiety,
depression, and relationship issues. Julie is also trained in EMDR and works with people
suffering from trauma and complex-PTSD. She believes that a therapist should feel like a real
person that can relate to clients and challenge them with compassion, humor, and tenderness.
Julie uses her clinical training, authentic presence, and lived experience to nurture a safe and
healing relationship for her clients.
Julie has a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State
University. A native Fairfield County resident, Julie enjoys working within the community that
she was raised in and helping its families and individuals thrive. Prior to pursuing her career in
mental health, she received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and then went
on to a career in tech recruiting and career counseling in New York City, honing her active
listening and counseling skills. It was there that Julie realized that she most enjoyed helping
people discover themselves and their true passions, and decided to transition this experience into
a career in therapy.
Julie’s therapeutic approach incorporates modalities from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Systems Therapy, and Internal Family
Systems (IFS). She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
She believes that all people are part of individual, familial, and greater cultural systems, and
exploring the impacts of these systems through the medium of a secure relationship can lead to
deep emotional understanding, healing, and self-agency. When one better understands the
patterns and unconscious beliefs that molded their thinking and behavior, they then have more
power and skills to choose patterns and beliefs that better align to who they truly are.
In her free time, Julie enjoys spending time with her two daughters and husband, cuddling with
her American bulldog, going on hikes, hanging at the beach, and seeing live music. Julie also
believes in the healing properties of being in nature, the ocean, having a dance party (even solo),
belly laughs, and singing all the words to a song with a crowd of people.
