Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist

Deirdre Murty, APRN, CNS, is a Yale-educated and Yale-trained, board-certified Clinical Nurse Specialist providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, psychotherapy, psychopharmacologic treatment, and psychoeducation and medication consultation for patients of all ages . She has a subspecialty in treating children and adolescents .

Her clinical philosophy is grounded in the belief that meaningful change occurs within the context of a strong therapeutic alliance. She works collaboratively with each individual to understand their unique experiences, navigate emotional challenges, and develop personalized strategies that foster resilience, insight, and lasting growth. Recognizing that seeking support can be a vulnerable process, she is committed to creating a warm, engaging, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and empowered.

Deirdre works with children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating the complexities of today’s social climate, academic demands, identity development, and transitions. She also specializes in women’s mental health, supporting women through significant life transitions, including pregnancy and postpartum adjustment, the addition of a child to the family, parenting challenges, relationship difficulties, divorce, anxiety, depression, and periods of personal transformation.

Her approach is thoughtful, practical, and deeply relational, integrating evidence-based treatment with an appreciation for the emotional, developmental, and interpersonal factors that influence well-being. She believes that therapy and medication management  is not simply about symptom reduction but also about helping individuals cultivate greater self-understanding, confidence, and the ability to move forward with purpose.

Outside of her clinical work, Deirdre finds inspiration in the beauty of everyday life. She has a particular appreciation for all things vintage and timeless, enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures, loves cooking and gathering around the table with family and friends, and treasures spending time with her children. These personal interests enrich her appreciation for connection, tradition, and the stories that shape each person’s life journey.

“Finding the right therapeutic fit is an essential part of the healing process. I welcome the opportunity to connect and determine how I may best support you or your family.”
