The Riverwalk Group is a team of committed, multi-disciplinary and talented mental health professionals located in Stamford, CT . Our group believes compassion, creativity and collaboration are essential keys to therapeutic growth. In addition, we understand there are various ways to receive support, so in addition to therapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, we offer many innovative programs, support groups, workshops and retreats. We do not believe in “one size fits all” and our therapy and programming is always tailored to the individual and/or group we are specifically collaborating with.
As a team, we meet routinely to discuss current research, review techniques, and share the latest publications and books. We frequently attend conferences and workshops to integrate the most current research into our work and bring back to our patients. Some of us do not limit our work to helping only clients, but feel strongly about educating and supervising future therapists and do so in diverse settings. In addition to the private practice setting, we have worked in many different settings, including hospitals, agencies and schools.
Our Team is extensively trained with diverse experience in numerous therapies and integrative modalities. As an example of just some of these, we bring backgrounds in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Processing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Integrative Trauma, Mindfulness, Family Therapy and Couples Therapy. Please see our Services and Modalities pages for more information.
The therapists at The Riverwalk Group always uphold the highest level of professional standards, and are grateful to do what we love every day.
These are the principles that guide and motivate our every decision as helpers, as practitioners and as a business.
We strive to provide expert and informed services to all our clients. As a result, our clinicians invest regularly in continuing education — researching, connecting professionally, and attending workshops to keep us abreast of the latest news, interventions and information regarding mental health. Our clinicians also place a priority on self-care, practicing what we teach so we are able to bring our best selves to the work of helping others.
We trust that change is possible, and have been witness to amazing personal transformations and healing. We have seen and heard hard things, but we have also seen the growth that comes from hard work and faith that things can be different. We hold space when it's hard for our client to do so and are here to remind them that there is always hope.
We value relationships, inside and outside of the office. We believe that no person is an island and, as a result, strategic relationships are necessary for change to occur. If clients are amendable, we eagerly partner with medical professionals, family members, school personnel, friends and other clinicians (inside and outside the office) to create dynamic and effective treatment plans.
We acknowledge that mental health effects and is regularly influenced by every other part of life. People are complex, as are the problems that bring them into therapy. We honor that. As a result, therapy assessment and treatment takes the whole person into account — physically, spiritually, relationally, emotionally and cognitively.
We broach all our work with a desire to understand and to help our clients understand who they are and why they're hurting. Our clients are not problems to be solved, but people living dynamic and important stories. Before even diagnosis or symptom management, we are genuinely interested in getting to know our clients and the perspective from which they approach life.
We believe it's a privilege to hear and be invited into our clients' stories. As a result, we strive to be the kind of people and create the kind of environment that feels trustworthy and safe. Our lobby and offices are strategically warm and comfortable — like living rooms instead of doctor's offices. In practice, we are clinically minded, but decidedly conversational.
